Job Description:

This position involves the performance of clerical activities related the coordination of case management services in a managed care organization. This position requires the application of various work methods and procedures, and familiarity with departmental functions, policies, and practices. This position is key to achieving compliance with contract and quality measures while maintaining confidentiality of the members’ health information. The position also interfaces with members and providers regarding routine service requests, scheduling of visits and exchange of information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Obtains and files medical and case management records
  • Researches and documents information from medical and claim records
  • Coordinates transportation rides for medical appointments for members with direction from case management staff
  • Manages assignments related to obtaining HEDIS 5 Star and Performance Improvement Projects
  • Assists Members, Providers and Staff with authorizations and service implementation
  • Assists Program Director with tracking, auditing and maintenance of databases to ensure contract compliance
  • Receives and manages incoming telephone calls, faxes or voice mail messages
  • Research data and prepare response for requesting person or department
  • Educates customers and providers on i-Care’s policies and procedures
  • Understands Family Care Partnership Program and iCare to assist and/or refer callers
  • Provides back up and coverage for Program Assistant
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

  • Health Unit Coordinator and or Medical Assistant certification is strongly preferred
  • At least one year of experience working in a clerical position within the medical field
  • Must be competent working with Microsoft office products and able to learn new applications
  • Previous Family Care, Family Care Partnership, Managed Care and/or Insurance experience
  • Ability to work independently without constant direction
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
