Job Description:

The Medicare Benefits Consultant is responsible for growing Medicare Advantage enrollment volume by targeting Medicare beneficiaries that have dual eligible status (Medicare and Medicaid) in the Independent Care Health Plan service area. The Medicare Benefits Consultant’s primary area of focus is on achievement of the membership goals outlined in the annual operating plan. The Medicare Benefits Consultant conducts all sales and marketing activities in an ethical and responsible manner and complies with all CMS and other applicable laws and regulatory guidelines.

  1. Markets products that are designed for the dually eligible population.
  2. Conducts one-on-one sales meetings, house calls, and telephonic enrollments.
  3. Spends time in the field working with key providers, local government agencies, community leaders, community-based organizations, and others serving the dually-eligible population.
  4. Attends community events and health fairs to promote product education and awareness.
  5. Ability to travel as needed in entire Aurora CompleteCare and Lakeland Care +Health service area.
  6. Enters leads and applicant information into a database.
  7. Supports and demonstrates a customer service commitment to internal and external customers.
  8. Understands how applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures impact specific job responsibilities and functions. Demonstrates actions to reasonably prevent, detect, and report unethical and unlawful business practices.
  9. Is fiscally responsible and is in accordance with department policies and procedures regarding business practices.

Experience and Skills:

  1. Minimum two-year Associates Degree in related field or equivalent in experience.
  2. Two to four years outside sales experience preferred with a proven track record selling Medicare Advantage, Choice, Medicare Supplement, Major Medical, Life, LTC, financial services, or related products.
  3. Valid Wisconsin Accident and Disability insurance license.
  4. Knowledge of health insurance sales and marketing processes and operational principals with Medicare product experience desirable.
  5. Cultural sensitivity and sensitivity to the Medicaid population.
  6. Ability to work independently under general instructions and with a team.
  7. A car and valid Wisconsin driver’s license is required for territory travel.
  8. Excellent oral communication skills.
  9. Proficiency with computer software packages including Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet Applications and Outlook.
  10. Prior experience making group presentations is desirable.
  11. Bilingual capability in Spanish desirable.
