Job Description:

This professional position performs analytical activities related to care management functions within the Specialty Services department with a major concentration on readmission prevention. This position is responsible for data entry and data integrity, and understanding departmental functions, policies and practices. The Specialty Services Program Analyst supports and contributes to quality initiatives and process improvement efforts within the department. This position reports to the Specialty Services Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the database for tracking hospital admissions and discharges, including collecting and entering data in the database daily.
  2. Ensure data integrity for the lifespan of the data.
  3. Analyze data and compile reports on trends of hospital discharges and readmissions for quality improvement.
  4. Provide reports to analyze trends and research the elements causing the trends.
  5. Identify areas for process improvement, and make and implement recommendations.
  6. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team for quality improvement and process improvement.
  7. Assist in developing systematic approaches to create efficiencies in reporting and operational procedures.

Program Support Roles:

  1. Assumes responsibility for special projects for department and company-wide initiatives.
  2. Provide leadership in the development of strategies to achieve member health and company objectives.
  3. Collaborate in the development of metrics to evaluate success.

Experience and Skills:

Required Qualifications:

  1. Associate’s Degree in Business, Information Systems Management, or related field, or a social service degree with applicable work experience.
  2. Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Access
  3. Related health care or social work experience.
  4. Knowledge and experience in working with statistical data, formulas and actuarial tables.
  5. Ability to demonstrate flexibility, set priorities with daily demands and long-term work projects. Willingness to change priorities when necessary.
  6. Exceptional organizational skills.
  7. Skill and ability to seek solutions using appropriate methodologies. Problem solving ability to apply an appropriate combination of independent thinking, consultation with relevant staff and the collection of data and facts.
  8. Ability to work effectively as a team member and cooperate in achieving company goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Two years of experience working in a managed care environment, or related health care experience.
  2. Knowledge of care management practices.
  3. Knowledge of aspects influencing readmission prevention.
  4. Proven ability to successfully manage projects.
  5. Working knowledge of SQL.
